A step towards Destiny

Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi

Posted on: August 26, 2010

Okay, so Commonwealth games 2010 are just around the corner (36 days 3hrs and 42 mins to go .. when this was written). But the games are in news for all the bad reasons possible, Alas!.

Commonwealth has actually turned into a common source of wealth :D for the organizers/authorities. Whom to blame? Just the authorities?

I think corruption is inevitable while managing events of such magnitude. Still, I am confident that the commonwealth proceedings will run smooth and will showcase India’s and Delhi’s power to the outside world.

Recently, media and others (on Twitter) have given many reasons why the CWG will be a flop show. Buttt, there are few reasons, I believe, CWG Delhi 2010 will be a success, Because –

  1. Someone has said, The CWG preparations are like Indian Marriages, nothing seems to be in order, but eventually everything falls in place beautifully at the last moment. :)
  2. We do not have any other option.
  3. The National stadium (Construction completed) is of of supreme class, outside authorities approved after inspection.
  4. Rugby and the wrestling stadium construtions too have finished on time and promise huge prospect.
  5. Besides, Delhi seems to be geared up for the event with a new airport matching international standards around the world, and many more constructions almost completed just for the CWG games.

Prolly, Its time to stop cribbing about the bad things or spreading demotivating messages across the country, and start cherishing the mega-event. It’s a real historic moment for our country … may it stay historic for good reasons :)

awww…
I like it .. U have a point in — ‘we have no option ‘ ..
I perhaps will not say any derogatory marks abt cWG 2010 :)

go India go!! :D

You say corruption is inevitable?? Dude just look at our neighborhood China!..How they organized Olympics..

The city was totally polluted before and then it was transformed to a beautiful city after all. Also the inauguration and the last ceremony made the world watch it!

Due to this they bagged the world’s greatest event World Expo… I can tell you that World expo is also very well managed and they planned it for 10 years..which is to say before bidding of it..

When we won the CWG bid I was excited but when I saw the level of corruption on it I saw my hopes faded….

Another thing about infrastructure…. The Delhi sure have World class airport but it’s facilities are faulty that was reflected the very next day it was opened…The Delhi traffic plan is not regulated for the probable floating traffic that CWG might attract..
The other thing is that recently when the athlete went to swimming practice one player cut the leg since the tiles were merely stuck loosely inside and broke of…..

Hopefully they will be able to cover that off..

1. “You say corruption is inevitable?? ….organized Olympics..”, prolly we did not get to hear about the corruption during Beijing Olympics, does not mean there was no corruption! Its just that we hear more Indian news than local chinese news … ;)
2. China’s did awesome job, agreed! But we should wait for the CWG’s to complete, Who knows it might be as good as the Olympics .. I am optimistic :)
3. Keep hoping, It doesn’t cost much :P :D
4. “Delhi traffic plan is not regulated …” – Time will tell :)
5. “athlete went to swimming practice one player cut the leg …” – This still should not affect the CWG prospects, I think :D .. Again baat wahi ati hai ki … China me agar kisika pair kata hoga swimming karte hue to wo hame pata nahi chala …. because, either the media/people dint write about it or we dint get to hear.
Bottom-line is, We definitely are a BIT off-track in terms of preparations, No doubt. But spreading negative remarks anyways wont help the cause :)

That’s way too much optimism for some people (me included :) ). Having read all the scams and reports, I can’t imagine things “just falling in place”. Anyway, kudos to your “never lose hope” attitude and Amen! to the positive thought :)

kya yaar, U dint leave anything to discuss ;) :D

ahhhhhhh…………..
so sweet
i new that india can do it…………………………….
